Tusser advised the farmer that when harvest was in he should give his ploughman a harvest home goose. The eighteenth-century editor of Tusser added that the men lost their goose if they overturned a load during harvest. Hone quotes a Sandwich account of 1543 for money spent when the town ate its harvest goose.

the goose is forfeited, if they overthrow during harvest.
