The seven-yearly bounds money at Husborne Crawley

36 days after Easter · Husborne Crawley, Bedfordshire

No longer kept

Once every seven years an estate at Husborne Crawley in Bedfordshire had to pay four pounds on Rogation Day towards walking the parish bounds. The money covered the cost of the perambulation and of keeping the boundary marks in repair. Chambers notes it among the small endowments that paid for Rogation processions, since parishes could not charge them to the rates.

A certain estate in Husborne Crawley, Bedfordshire, has to pay £4 on Rogation Day, once in seven years, to defray the expense of perambulating, and keeping up the boundaries of the parish.
