At Edgcott in Buckinghamshire about an acre of land, called Gang Monday Land, was let for three pounds a year to pay for cakes and beer for those who walked the parish bounds in Rogation week. Parishes could not charge the cost of perambulation refreshments to the rates, so small bequests like this one paid for them. Chambers gives it among several such endowments in Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.
