On Corpus Christi Day the men of Kemes met the men of Emlyn and Cardiganshire at St Meugan’s for the second of the two great knappan games held there. The Elizabethan writer Peter Roberts printed said these two matches far outdid the others in the crowds they drew.

the other upon Corpus Xti day; and these two last were the great and mayne playes, farre exceeding any of the former in multitude of people
