Every Good Friday the interest on forty pounds was given to the poor of Bowaldeth, a quarter of Torpenhow parish. John Simpson of Bowaldeth left the money by his will of 1753, to be shared out as the trustees Thomas and Jonathan Fell directed.

the interest of which to be distributed yearly upon Good-Friday, according to the direction of Thomas and Jonathan Fell, trustees of the said charity.
