Lore and belief

The Welsh held that if summery weather lasted until New Year’s Day, wintry weather would last until May Day. Aubrey called it a Welsh proverb of great antiquity. He added that the Welsh looked upon it as an oracle.

That is, if it be somerly weather till the Kalends of January, it will be winterly weather to the Kalends of May. They look upon this as an Oracle.
