Still kept

In the west of Cornwall carol singers went from house to house at Christmas wherever they were encouraged, and in some parishes met in church on Christmas Eve to sing in the morning. One of the carols Sandys collected there, sung at the door, blessed the master of the house and ended by hoping to taste his strong Christmas beer before the singers left. He gathered more than a hundred such carols in west Cornwall, many from the singers themselves.

Then let us all most merry be, Since that we are come here, And we do hope before we part To taste some of your beer.
