Besides the St George players, Cornish guisards or geese-dancers went about at Christmas visiting the houses, the men and women often dressed in each other’s clothes. Sandys noted that Heath had described a similar custom in the Isles of Scilly in 1750, and compared it with the guisers of Scotland and the north of England.

Guisards, or geese-dancers, as they are called, go about, the males and females frequently exchanging attire, and visit the different houses.
