No longer kept

In 1634 Richard Evelyn, High Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex, kept a splendid Christmas at his house at Wotton with a regular Lord of Misrule. It was then the custom for neighbours to send presents of food towards such a feast, and the list survived: venison, brawn, pigs, ninety capons, geese, turkeys, rabbits, partridges, sugar loaves, nutmegs, apples, eggs and pears. Sandys cited it from Archaeologia.
