Some Welsh people foretold the coming year’s weather with onions. On 25 or 26 December twelve onions were named after the months and a pinch of salt was put on each. If the salt had melted by Epiphany the matching month would be wet; if it stayed, the month would be dry.

On December 25 or 26 twelve onions are named after the twelve months of the year. A pinch of salt is put on each.
