On Christmas morning the people of Whitbeck, under Black Combe, rose early to breakfast on hack-pudding. It was a mess of sheep’s heart chopped with suet and sweet fruits. Hutchinson had it from the Rev. William Pearson, a native of the parish, among many other customs of that out-of-the-way district.
