The gentlemen and children of the Earl of Northumberland’s chapel acted the Play of the Nativity before him in his chapel on Christmas morning, for which he gave them twenty shillings. The household regulations of 1512 quoted by Sandys also paid a Master of the Revels to oversee the plays and interludes of the twelve days, and allowed the chapel children six shillings and eightpence for singing Gloria in Excelsis on Christmas morning.
