David Jones, a Welsh village poet of Rhuddlan, sang a carol of his own composing in Rhuddlan church every Christmas Day for fifty-three years. Sandys read the notice of his death at sixty-nine in the Literary Gazette of October 1832, and gave it as an instance of the Welsh love of carols, of which there were many collections in Welsh.
